Tongji University, in the city of Shanghai, has opened a promotional activity on Longquan cultural heritage of Zhejiang province, on Sept 25, with a week of activities promoting the culture of celadon, swords, and tea art along with lectures and training in the particular type of celadon.

The activity has been promoted by the Longquan municipal government, which has said that there are similar activities concerning Longquan heritage being planned for universities and famous art colleges over the next three years.

This program opened officially this past June at Zhejiang University. Tongji was chosen as the second stop because of its long history and good reputation, and the celadon works and sword craft have attracted quite a bit of attention.

A Longquan city official says their cooperation with universities gives the city a good chance to promote its celadon and its sword-making craft and encourages a sense of pride among the teachers and students and that they expect to have more exchanges and closer contacts between the university, society and the state for some winning cultural interaction.

The city says it is also trying to develop a platform for resource, culture, and innovation sharing to find new ways to protect the heritage and that they have a plan to improve promotions and excavations to breathe more life and meaning into the local celadon and sword business.
