A symposium to promote local tourist resources took place in Xiyou village in the Tianmu Mountain natural conservation area in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, on June 24.

Over 80 companies and individuals from Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province and Shanghai took part in the event, having one-to-one talks with local villagers and trying to find business opportunities in the rural area.

Tianmu Mountain is a national 4A scenic area with forest coverage of more than 90 percent.

Abundant tourist resources and excellent natural environment have given rise to a fast developing tourism industry in the village. There are over 80 homestays with 3,500 beds in Xiyou. Last year, the annual income per capita surpassed 45,000 yuan ($6,581).

The village committee expected to attract more investment by holding the symposium. The development of tourism will be a strong boost to the village's economy and farmers' income, according to a local official.
