The 2017 China Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival, with a theme of "Belt and Road, Chinese Dream", was officially unveiled on Sept 20.

More than 30 artists from six countries including China, Russia, Belgium and Canada have been working in the city of Zhoushan, Zhejiang province since the beginning of September, creating 60 huge sand sculptures of famous landmarks and characters.

First launched in 1999, the sculpture festival has evolved into a well-known event.

This year, the organizing committee has made some changes to the event. A series of bars have been erected to provide visitors with refreshments, and little trains are available to whisk people around the sculpture park. Children are also welcome to play with sand and learn how to make sand sculptures.

Classified into four different sections, these sculptures representing the Chinese dream, the Silk Road and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road will be on display till May, 2018.
