The 10th China Yiwu International Forest Products Fair, an event boasting an 85,000-square-meter display area and 3,723 standard booths, opened on Nov 1 in Zhejiang's Yiwu city, China's largest distribution center for wholesale products.

Hosted by China's State Forestry Administration and the Zhejiang government, the fair, with a green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly concept, has attracted 1,639 companies from 32 countries and regions to exhibit products that range from furniture, bamboo products to forestry equipment.

It is estimated that over 100,000 kinds of products are on exhibit. During the four-day event, 100,000 purchasers from home and abroad are expected to visit and select goods.

One of the biggest highlights at the fair is a display area themed on the Belt and Road Initiative, where experts from 16 Central and Eastern European countries can share opinions on forestry development.

Liu Dongsheng, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration addressed the fair, saying that forestry is a green and sustainable industry whose development is increasing farmers' incomes and providing solutions to social imbalance.

Recalling the fair's past 10 years, Liu greatly appreciated the fruitful results and said the event had become a country leading exchange fair with plenty of trade opportunities and a high degree of internationalization.

The forest products fair is a platform for various exchange activities and plays a vital role in promoting international cooperation in Zhejiang, said Sun Jingmiao, vice-governor of the province.
