The Second Affiliated Hospital of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU) based in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has become an international training center for doctors from around the world.

So far, more than 200 international students and doctors from over 10 countries have received training at 26 departments at SAHZU.

In 2012, SAHZU and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) established the SAHZU-UCLA Joint Training Center for Fellows. In 2013, the training courses at SAHZU were certified by US authorities. Thus, an increasing number of international medical students choose to study at the hospital in Hangzhou.

Yinn Cher Ooi, a Malaysian doctor who works at UCLA's neurosurgery department, is now learning craniotomy at the Zhejiang hospital. There are over 700 surgeries on brain aneurysms at SAHZU every year,  45 percent of which are treated with craniotomies. This provides an abundance of opportunities for doctors to gain clinical experience, according to Zhang Jianmin, director of SAHZU's neurosurgery department.

The Zhejiang hospital's close cooperation with international universities and research institutes is considered a huge step forward for SAHZU in gaining presence on the world stage.
