An opera troupe from Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, staged a performance of Wuju Opera at the World Trade Center in Macao on Feb 25.
Over 800 spectators watched the show and savored the charm of the national intangible cultural heritage which has its origins from East China's Zhejiang province.
The performers presented the most classic stories and demonstrated the artistic features of the traditional opera with high-pitched sounds and graceful movements, receiving cheers and applause from the audience.
"I feel very warm to watch the opera show from my hometown and I hope Jiangshan's Wuju Opera could be promoted further," said Lu Songlin, an indigene of Jiangshan who now lives in Macao.
Mao Youxiang, director of the troupe hailed the cultural activity as a good opportunity to tell Jiangshan stories, "It serves as a bridge between Jiangshan and Macao."
The head of Macao's Cultural Affairs Bureau Mok Ian Ian highly appreciated the opera performances, extending her wishes for more exchanges between the two regions in the future.
