A batch of silkworm eggs was packaged in Tongxiang, Zhejiang province on March 26 and will be exported to Uzbekistan via Shanghai within the next few days.

Sheng Wangming, a technician from a sericulture company in Tongxiang, said that the company has seen an uptick in orders from Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2019. A total of 600,000 silkworm eggs will be transported to the Central Asian country.

In addition to Uzbekistan, the company also exports to countries such as Greece, Turkey and Pakistan.

"It's not just silkworm eggs. Sericulture techniques in Zhejiang are being exported to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative," said Wu Haiping, deputy director of Zhejiang's promotion center for agrotechniques.

A sericulture company named Mogan Tianzhu in Deqing, Huzhou joined hands with an Uzbek partner in founding a silkworm factory in the country. It is estimated that this year, the factory will produce 120,000 silkworm eggs under guidance from China.

"We'll dispatch experienced technicians to Uzbekistan every year to offer technical guidance for the production and operation," said Cai Yongliang, deputy general manager of the Deqing company.
