The 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week came to a close in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on June 19, with the latest technological achievements and innovations being spotlighted during the weeklong innovation event.

Over 30 hi-tech innovations highlighting Hangzhou's prowess in digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI) were exhibited, including an intelligent system for urban management, heavy industry manufacturing applications powered by 5G technology, and AI platforms.

A flurry of activities including competitions, themed exhibitions and forums for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and university students were also held to provide an exchange and cooperation platform for companies looking to showcase their latest research achievements to the public.

The innovation and entrepreneur week, which began on June 13, was being held in different parts of the country, with its main venue in Hangzhou.

Known as an emerging technology hub and home to e-commerce giant Alibaba, the provincial capital is striving to build itself into a major innovation and entrepreneurship center.

In 2018, Hangzhou introduced 119,000 high-caliber professionals and had the largest influx of high-level talents and internet engineers from overseas in China.

It is expected that by 2022, Hangzhou will have 6,800 high-tech enterprises and 250,000 new small and micro enterprises, with venture capital no less than 200 billion yuan ($28.96 billion).
