A delegation of 17 overseas Chinese students looking to develop their own technologies or start their businesses in China visited Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, known as the powerhouse of the country's private economy, on July 8.

A trip to local industrial parks, a project roadshow, and some matchmaking activities were organized to facilitate exchange between the delegation and local companies, investment agencies and technology incubators.

The students, most of who have PhDs, showcased 14 advanced technology projects focusing on biomedicine, information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and new energy, hoping to cooperate with local enterprises in the development of capital and technology.

Cai Wenjie from the United States showcased an internet of things project for car parking. "Our system is able to help people find vacancies for their cars quickly and efficiantly," said Cai. Three Wenzhou companies showed interest in the project and invited the student for detailed discussions.

After the activities, 26 companies and experts expressed intent to cooperate with the students.
