An opera festival will be staged at Yue Opera town in Shijia'ao village in Shengzhou, Zhejiang province, during the upcoming National Day holiday on Oct 1-7.

The town, named after Yue Opera – a local folk opera in Zhejiang – is the first town in China to be named after an opera genre. 

It is also the first opera festival to be held in the town since its opening on Dec 30, 2018, organizers said. 

Folk operas from Zhejiang, Shanxi, Guangxi and Fujian will be staged. 

In addition, other activities – including an exhibition on culture and art of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative – will also be available.
