Zhejiang province has been committed to helping its leading local companies return to work and restore industrial chains.

Statistics showed that as of Feb 25, leading companies in the province had recovered 75.4 percent of production capacity.

"Zhejiang's economy is characterized by a number of industrial clusters where enterprises support each other's growth. Certain companies are crucial to the recovery of industrial chains," said Wu Aiqi, deputy director of the Global Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Institute of Zhejiang University.

Geely Chunxiao Manufacturing Plant, a production center operated by leading Chinese auto maker Geely in Beilun district, Ningbo, has recovered 85 percent of its capacity, according to Xu Xiaohang, vice-general-manager of the plant.

Some leading companies have partners not only in the province, but also in other parts of the country and the world. Zhejiang province has established a coordination mechanism with other provinces, especially those in the Yangtze River Delta region, to help related companies resume operations.

Duoling Clean Air Technology Co, a major supplier of face masks and other protective supplies in Jiaxing, has only one raw material manufacturing partner, located in Kunshan, Jiangsu province. To ensure that Duoling can resume operation smoothly, Jiaxing authorities coordinated with Kunshan authorities to help the raw material manufacturer resume production.

Holley Group, a pharmaceutical conglomerate in Hangzhou, is currently considering whether or not to help finance struggling small and medium-sized enterprises in the industrial chain.

"Big companies should shoulder their responsibilities. They and chain enterprises are inextricably linked. If chain enterprises cannot survive, neither will big companies," said Wang Licheng, chairman of the board of Holley.
