Zhejiang strengthens epidemic control measures

(ezhejiang.gov.cn) Updated : 2020-04-13

The government of Zhejiang province recently held its 42nd news conference on the control of COVID-19.

The government decided to strengthen epidemic control measures by requiring a 14-day quarantine for those arriving from overseas and traveling from another province before arriving in Zhejiang who weren’t quarantined in their province of arrival. Those who underwent a 14-day quarantine in the province of arrival will not be subject to a second quarantine in Zhejiang.

Since there has been an increasing number of asymptomatic infections from hard-hit regions in recent days, the government has decided to conduct nucleic acid tests on anybody who has been in Wuhan over the past 14 days.

As schools start to reopen next week, the government has also arranged for personnel to evaluate whether schools are adequately prepared, especially when it comes to sanitation and epidemic control measures.

There is no longer a shortage of medical supplies in the province. According to the conference, Zhejiang could produce only 160,000 face masks a day in late January but the daily output exceeded 70 million by the end of March.

Companies are also reopening at a rapid rate, and in early March, construction began on 537 major projects costing a staggering 886.4 billion yuan ($126.05 billion).
