The Asian Games Sailing Center, or Zhejiang Marine Sports Center, in the coastal county of Xiangshan in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, has seen new construction progress, according to the organizing committee of the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.

So far, the roof-sealing of the main venue on land has been completed, and the breakwater has been built and is now able to protect the shore from waves.

Xiangshan county, where sand is soft and water is lucid, is one of the important sites for marine tourism and marine sports activities in Zhejiang. The sailing center for the Hangzhou Asian Games, which is scheduled to be held in September 2022, will have a land area of 15 hectares and a sea area of 46 hectares.

The construction project resumed on Feb 13 when the novel coronavirus was well controlled in the province. Currently, a total of 317 people are working on site.

To catch up the initial plan, which was somewhat delayed by the virus outbreak, the construction team has scaled up the labor and mechanical inputs in the project.

An official in charge of sailing center construction said they will continue enlist more people and machines to work on the project to make sure it is completed by March 2021.
