Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics holds 3rd China-Kazakhstan forum

Tang Shuming, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, pointed out that since the pandemic began, the Zhejiang provincial Party committee, provincial government, and provincial education department have attached great importance to the health of international students in China, and have done their utmost to provide care and assistance to them. He said that ZUFE and Kazakhstan universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and expressed hope that the cooperation in education between ZUFE and Kazakhstan will continue to increase. He said that the cooperation will help stimulate the flow of people, logistics, and information between Zhejiang and Kazakhstan and contribute to the development of relations between China and Kazakhstan.

Kairat Abdrakhman, vice-chairman of the Board of the Astana International Academy of Kazakhstan, stressed that the COVID-19 has harmed Kazakhstan's economy and highlighted the shortcomings in Kazakhstan's medical system, but the country is looking forward to continued cooperation in the post-pandemic era to implement the agreements reached in economics, finance, trade, culture, and more between the two sides and strengthen the traditional partnership between China and Kazakhstan.

Professor Wang Xilong from the School of History and Culture of Lanzhou University analyzed the agricultural economic history and natural environmental conditions of the two countries, pointing out that COVID-19 highlights the importance of food in China-Kazakhstan economic cooperation. He said that China-Kazakhstan economic cooperation is of great significance to the two countries and that he looks forward to continued cooperation between the two countries in the process of building the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Seken Aday, professor of the National Eurasian University of Kazakhstan, gave a speech entitled "Rethinking the Cooperation Mechanism between Central Asia and China amidst the Normalization of the Pandemic". He proposed that in the context of the normalization of the pandemic, China-Kazakhstan economic cooperation in the future should focus on solving issues related to the regional economic cooperation model, the driving mechanism behind international economic cooperation, the regional public health emergency warning system, international environmental protection, and more.

Zhang Ning, professor and director of the Central Asia Research Office of the Russian-Eastern European-Central Asian Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, proposed protecting people's livelihoods, making efforts to rescue enterprises, controlling currency exchange, stabilizing the exchange rate, adjusting oil taxes and gas production, and more, and suggested that when developing cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, overseas security should be strengthened, hostile forces should be prevented from distortion and slander, and the friendship between the two countries should be further consolidated.
