A mixture of modernity and tradition has given Dongziguan village in Hangzhou a new look, making it attractive to visitors from around the country.

Dongziguan, which is located in Fuyang district, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, is an ancient village with a history of more than 1,500 years. In 2013, it was selected as a historical and cultural village under provincial-level protection.

Located next to Fuchun River, the village was once an important hub along the waterway connecting Hangzhou and Anhui province, as well as a commercial center filled with boats and people.

In 2017, the local government decided to rebuild a number of old houses in a modern architectural style in order to encourage reverse migration. White walls and dark tiles have made the village even more intriguing.

The modern look of this traditional Chinese village, similar to a Chinese ink painting, has become popular on the internet and attracted widespread attention, drawing tourists from all over the country.

People can still get a sense of history walking down the village's old streets. Some old buildings have witnessed many changes over the past millennia, serving as a testament to its rich history.

Dongziguan is also famous for its fish cuisine and outdoor spaces for water sports such as kayaking, due to its proximity to Fuchun River.
