The 6th Design Intelligence Award (DIA), hosted by the Hangzhou-based China Academy of Art, started its call for entries worldwide on its official website (www.di-award.org) on Jan 20.

The contest organizers released a proposal of "DIA Global Design Solutions for COVID-19" this year, calling on designers all over the world to put forward imaginative and innovative works that help the world overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and look towards a splendid future.

The entries are classified into four categories: cultural innovation, living wisdom, industrial equipment, and digital economy.

The deadline for the submission of design works is June 25. Preliminary evaluation and final evaluation are respectively set to take place in July and September. The awards ceremony and a series of promotional events for outstanding works are scheduled to be held from Sept 27 to 29.

Inaugurated in 2015, the DIA is China's first-ever industrial design award of global impact. Its core values are stated as "Intelligence of Humanity, Wisdom of Life, Fusion of Tech and Art, Brain of Industry".

There have been 27,601 entries from 60 countries and regions in the past five DIAs. The DIA has also established cooperative relations with more than 100 design academies, trade associations, and organizers of design expositions around the world.

In addition to the China Academy of Art, the annual event is also organized by the China Industrial Design Association and the Sub-Committee for Industrial Design Education in Higher-Learning Institutions at the Ministry of Education. It is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as the Zhejiang Provincial Government.
