The Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Zhejiang Film Association hosted the award ceremony for the 10th Zhejiang Film Phoenix Award at the Zhejiang Exhibition Hall in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, on Nov 30.

The Zhejiang Film Phoenix Award, initiated in 2007 and presented every three years, is the highest prize for filmmakers in the province.

This year's 14 prizes were granted to eight films. The Red Boat received the Special Jury Prize, the Best Screenplay Prize, and the Best Director Prize. Beyond the Skies won the Best Picture Prize, the Best Music Prize, and the Best Cinematography Prize.

Xi Meijuan, who starred in Grace of Porridge, won the Best Leading Actress Prize, while Yu Qian, who starred in Song of Youth, won the Best Leading Actor Prize.

The Red Boat depicts Mao Zedong's role in the first CPC National Congress, which was reconvened on a red boat on Nanhu Lake in the Zhejiang city of Jiaxing after it was interrupted by authorities in Shanghai's then French concession in 1921.

Beyond the Skies revolves around the heroic fight by the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in the southwest of Zhejiang province.
