Chen Xiaolin, a 76-year-old retired Chinese language teacher in Jiashan county's Xitang town, Zhejiang province, has been providing one-on-one tuition to a rural boy with cerebral palsy every morning on week days for the past four years.

Chen started tutoring the boy in 2017 after learning that the latter, though illiterate, was willing to learn.

Chen has taught the boy to read and write 3,400 Chinese characters. The boy can also recite some 90 ancient Chinese poems.

The lessons are carried out in a small classroom in a village. To instill a sense of accomplishment in the boy, Chen even prints exam papers and award certificates for him.
