Average wages show increase in Q2

The average monthly wages in 38 major cities of China hit 10,341 yuan ($1,541.84) in the second quarter of this year, according to a recent report by Zhaopin, an online recruitment platform.

This represents a 3.3 percent increase compared with 10,014 yuan in the first quarter.

Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen claimed the top three spots, with average monthly salaries of 14,775 yuan, 14,252 yuan and 13,092 yuan, respectively.

Showing higher attractiveness for talents, Guangzhou and Zhuhai in the Pearl River Delta and Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou and Ningbo in the Yangtze River Delta also ranked high.

For the first time Dongguan, Xiamen, and Wuhan entered the "10,000 yuan club", with average monthly salaries of 10,202 yuan, 10,130 yuan, and 10,061 yuan, respectively.

The report shows employees in the trust/guarantee/auction/pawn sector gained 14,710 yuan, the highest average monthly salary among the 48 included sectors. The funds/securities/futures/investment sector ranked second, with an average salary of 13,065 yuan.

Doctoral degree holders earned 30,341 yuan, the highest average monthly salary, followed by master's degree (18,609 yuan) and undergraduate degrees (13,729 yuan).
