East China's Zhejiang launched a month-long campaign on Tuesday to improve digital proficiency among its residents.

The campaign seeks to develop more high-quality resources for digital education and training, narrow the digital divide between different regions and groups, and build a digital learning system for the population.

During the 30-day campaign, a series of activities related to digital skills learning and digital applications promotion will be held. These activities will involve digital skill training in communities, digital education and online training for village e-commerce, and the introduction of digitalized services for disabled people.

Zhejiang authorities had in 2021 initiated a province-wide digital reform to boost its development through digital empowerment. According to the latest figures, the added value of the digital economy accounted for 48.6 percent of Zhejiang's GDP in 2021, an increase of 10 percentage points over 2017.
