Jiaxing highlights cultural achievements during 14th Five-Year Plan period
Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province held a news conference on Jan 14 to showcase its cultural progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
Jiaxing has made significant progress in cultural development, marked by new landmarks such as the Jiaxing Zicheng Ruins Park and the Museum of Majiabang Culture. The city was also granted approval to conduct independent archaeological surveys, leading to notable discoveries such as the Dongta Temple site.
The city has leveraged its rich history as the hometown of prominent figures like Mao Dun, Wang Guowei, Feng Zikai, and Jin Yong. It has renovated 23 celebrity homes and hosted major cultural events, including a cultural exchange event celebrating Jin Yong's 100th anniversary.
The city's integration of culture and technology is also driving economic growth. Over the past five years, at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Jiaxing has signed 187 digital economy-related projects with a total investment of 141.5 billion yuan ($20.3 billion).
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), Jiaxing aims to become a cultural powerhouse by promoting its rich heritage and expanding its global influence.
