The list of "China's Top 100 cities with high-quality development in 2021" was recently released on xinhuanet.com and Jinhua – located in East China's Zhejiang province – came in trumps, ranking 36th among 297 prefecture-level and above cities in the country.
The list was based on an exacting evaluation system for cities in terms of their high-quality development. It included innovative development, coordinated development, green development, open development, shared development, safe development and other comprehensive indicators.
Jinhua reportedly holds competitive advantages in the areas of economic aggregates, local fiscal revenue, the proportion of its tertiary industry and total retail sales of consumer goods.
In particular, the proportion of the tertiary industry is 58.1 percent, ranking second in the province only after Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang. This reportedly indicates that Jinhua has made steady progress in its coordinated economic development and optimization of its industrial structure.
In addition, Yiwu, Yongkang and Dongyang – administered by Jinhua – ranked 7th, 53rd and 54th respectively in the category of top county-level cities by high-quality development.
Dongyang's Hengdian town; Yiwu's Fotang, Suxi and Yiting towns; Wuyi's Tongqin town and Yongkang's Gushan and Zhiying towns were listed in the top 500 high-quality development towns of 2021.
