Second COVID booster available in Lishui city
The people of Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province are now eligible for a second vaccine booster shot for COVID-19, according to local media reports.
The booster can be administered to people aged 60 and above, those who have already received a booster shot and are at high risk of infection, those with serious underlying conditions and those with low immunity.
People are also advised to get a different variety of vaccine from the original one they were inoculated with or Omicron-resistant vaccines for their second booster, which should be administered at least six months after the first booster.
In addition, an inhalable COVID-19 vaccination is also available in Lishui. The dose is administered via a cup containing an aerosol of the vaccine. The recipient takes a deep breath from the cup, holds their breath for around five seconds and then slowly exhales.
The inhaled dose – like the widely used vaccines delivered via injections – is not recommended for those experiencing acute symptoms of chronic illnesses or people who are allergic to certain components of the vaccine.
