A group of international graduate students from the school of architecture at Beijing's Tsinghua University visited Lishui city – in East China's Zhejiang province on March 9-13 – to learn about the local photographic culture and traditional architecture.

The 16 expat students are from Germany, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Italy, among others.

They visited the Wanxiangshan Scenic Area, which is a green hub in Lishui's city center – with its ancient trees, lush vegetation and natural beauty. The area also contains cultural and historical relics such as the Yanyu Building and Linglu Temple Tower. The northwest of Wanxiangshan is the former site of the Lishui oil pump factory, an important part of Lishui's industrial history.

The students visited the historical and cultural sites and the photography exhibition center in the scenic area. There they became immersed in the artistic ambience that combines historical and cultural heritage with modern photography.

They also visited eight new buildings that were transformed from the industrial buildings left by the oil pump factory. Here, they discussed how to achieve more harmonious and balanced innovation in terms of the natural world and modern development.

Afterwards, the delegation held a symposium at the Lishui Photography Museum. They shared their ideas and offered suggestions for improving Lishui's photographic culture and the field of endeavor as a whole.
