The Baishanzu fir, also known as the Abies beshanzuensis and a rare and endangered tree species, recently achieved its peak blooming period in Qingyuan county — located in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province.

Known for its unique reproductive characteristics, the Baishanzu fir is monoecious — meaning having male and female flowers on the same individual plant — with yellow-brown male flowers growing in clusters beneath its branches and pale green female flowers sprouting above.

Its optimal flowering period occurs from late April to early May each year.

Often referred to as a "living fossil of plants" and the "panda of the plant world", the Baishanzu fir is a national first-class protected wild plant and is listed among the world's endangered species.

The blooming event not only highlights the tree's ecological significance, but also underscores the importance of conservation efforts to protect this botanical treasure.
