An exciting cross-cultural art dialogue recently unfolded in the Guyan Huaxiang scenic area, also known as the Ancient Weir–Home of Painting scenic area — located in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province — a renowned center for the local Barbizon school of painting.

On June 9, six international students from Lishui University, hailing from countries such as Portugal and Romania, participated in the "Art Without Borders: Painting the Village" event. The gathering highlighted the region's rich artistic heritage and ongoing international collaborations.

The students explored the Guyanhuaxiang Art Center, absorbing the local artistic atmosphere through exhibitions and creative markets. Guided tours deepened their understanding of the region's oil painting history and cultural essence.

Alongside students from the local Dagangtou School, they engaged in a collaborative art session by the picturesque Oujiang River, combining their diverse artistic perspectives to capture the region's scenic beauty and cultural charm.

"Art transcends borders," expat student Guo Weihao said. "Guyan Huaxiang, often compared to France's Fontainebleau, offers a unique setting to experience China's cultural allure," Guo added.

The event underscored Guyan Huaxiang's innovative development model combining art, tourism, and education to foster cultural exchanges and international engagements.

As the scenic area extends its international cultural appeal, it remains a vital link between Lishui and the world, promoting mutual cultural understanding and cooperation.
