Longquan celadon from Lishui, Zhejiang province, a renowned Chinese porcelain, was featured at the "Nihao! China" Tourism Promotion Event in London on Nov 4.
Held at London City Hall, the event aimed to introduce Zhejiang's historic and classic industries to a global audience and to promote the internationalization of Longquan celadon.
As a key part of the 2025 World Cultural Heritage Overseas Tourism Promotion Series in the United Kingdom, the event attracted around 350 attendees from the cultural, tourism, and business sectors.
The Longquan celadon display, located in the intangible cultural heritage experience zone, highlighted innovations in daily-use porcelain, demonstrating how traditional craft integrates with contemporary life.
Zhejiang Arts and Crafts master Huang Shunmin and Chinese Arts and Crafts master Lu Weisun presented works that embodied a perfect fusion of traditional Chinese culture, exquisite craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetic design.
A London attendee who has been working to boost cultural exchange between China and the UK expressed her fascination, saying the celadon's serene glaze reminded her of the English countryside mist and represented a universal artistic language.
In 2023, Zhejiang Cultural Industry Investment Group reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Longquan to support the development of its classic industries, including celadon.
A representative from the group said that future efforts will focus on brand building and cross-innovation to further enhance the cultural and market value of Longquan celadon.
