Over 100 international students from Zhejiang A&F University visited Dayuan town in Jinyun county of Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Jan 24, immersing themselves in the traditional Chinese New Year spirit.

Guided by calligraphy instructors, the students practiced writing the Chinese character fu, meaning "good fortune", with Chinese writing brushes. They also learned to make Dayuan steamed buns under the guidance of local artisans, who walked them through steps like kneading dough and steaming.

A student from Ethiopia, who has celebrated Chinese New Year in China nine times and visited Jinyun multiple times, expressed his great affection for the area and excitement about participating.

During the lively event, students performed songs and dances. A student from Vietnam said that she often posts her experiences of Chinese culture on social media, sparking interest in visiting China among her friends.

The activity attracted participants from more than 20 countries across Africa and Southeast Asia.

Cai Liwei, Party secretary of Dayuan town, said that future events such as bayberry picking festivals and mountain marathons will be organized to give international guests the chance to experience and promote local culture globally.
