Lishui's Jinyun ducks break into overseas markets
Jinyun county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, has achieved a significant milestone: a subsidiary of Zhejiang Xinchang Agricultural Development, a local enterprise, has shipped its first batch of packaged whole ducks and snack products to Vietnam.
This accomplishment is part of Jinyun's comprehensive strategy to modernize its traditional duck industry.

Building on its reputation as the home of a unique duck breed, the county has developed an end-to-end industrial chain spanning genetic resource preservation, scientific breeding, and deep processing. In 2025, the industry's output value reached 3 billion yuan ($434.13 million), up 20 percent.
This export success follows persistent efforts to meet international standards, with the county having promoted large-scale, standardized farming through supportive policies and technological upgrades. Collaborations with research institutes have helped overcome breeding bottlenecks.

At the end of 2025, Zhejiang Xinchang Agricultural Development obtained the first national export qualification for Jinyun ducks, paving the way for overseas expansion.
To maximize value, companies are producing a diverse range of more than 60 products from various duck parts, including seasoned duck and salted eggs. In 2025, Zhejiang Xinchang Agricultural Development reported that the value of its processed product output exceeded 50 million yuan.
A robust sales network that combines online platforms, live streaming, and regional logistics is also supporting the industry's growth, positioning it to expand further into global markets.
