Lishui Guyanhuaxiang Art Center, a landmark art complex in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province, appears at an exhibition, A Structure of Feeling: Young Architects and China's Conjuncture, hosted by Aedes-Architecture and Space, a non-profit cultural institution in Berlin, Germany.

Designed by Meng Fanhao, co-founder and chief architect of line+ Studio, the structure seamlessly integrates art with rural life, sparking significant discussion among industry professionals.

Founded in 1980, Aedes is a renowned independent architectural exhibition institution. This exhibition focuses on urban renewal, rural development, and new spatial production, showcasing the exploratory practices of new-generation architects.

At a forum held during the exhibition, Meng delivered a speech titled "From Land to Relationships," emphasizing a shift in architectural value from land to the relationships it fosters. The Lishui Guyanhuaxiang Art Center exemplifies this concept, merging art spaces with daily life in a historical town.

Opened in April 2024, the center quickly became a cultural landmark. Meng's design strategy combines "floating megastructures" with "small boxes", harmonizing with local architecture while introducing modern elements.

Previously honored with an honorable nomination by the Architects Regional Council Asia in 2025, the center further reinforces its international acclaim through its participation in the Berlin exhibition. Meng said that he aspires to showcase China's vibrant public spaces beyond urban centers, demonstrating the potential for warm, lively community environments in rural areas.
