Lishui Central Hospital recently streamed a robotic surgery to Saudi Arabian doctors via a 5G connection.

In the operating room, Li Jie, director of the hospital's robotic minimally invasive surgery center, controlled a surgical robotic arm with millimeter-level precision, while physicians in Saudi Arabia watched every detail simultaneously on their screens.

Mohammed Faisal Almoflihi, a respected urologist from Saudi Arabia, commended the procedure after the broadcast, saying that the successful execution of such a complex operation with robotic assistance clearly demonstrated the hospital's technical proficiency.

Transmitting clear, real-time visuals over such a long distance posed a technical challenge. The hospital adopted a dual-path guarantee using 5G networks and a dedicated medical line, achieving signal latency of only 40 to 50 milliseconds — virtually imperceptible and fully sufficient for live interaction.

This marked the hospital's first remote broadcast of a robotic surgery for an overseas audience using 5G technology.

Since 2024, the robotic minimally invasive surgery center has completed over 500 robot-assisted operations across urology, gastrointestinal surgery, gynecology, and other fields.

Moving forward, the hospital plans to expand its global influence by inviting foreign experts and sending its own teams abroad, aiming to share the benefits of smart healthcare with more countries and regions.
