The fishery industry in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, registered stable development in the first three quarters of the year.
The fish catch amount in the city amounted to 469,000 metric tons during the first nine months, a year-on-year increase of 0.41 percent, while the crab and shrimp catches saw year-on-year increases of 7.88 percent and 3.25 percent respectively.
According to Putuo fishing boat administration center, the shrimp catch amount per day reached 1,500 kilograms in Putuo district, far more than last year.
"As shrimp trawlers are equipped with cold storage facilities, the quality of shrimps has been greatly improved and the price is also one-third higher than than before," said Dai Haijun from Putuo ocean and fishery bureau.
Hairtail catch amount decreased 4.21 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters.
Some industry insiders believe that the hairtail catch amount apparently increased during the fishing season this autumn and the catch amount of hairtail is expected to continue to rise during the winter.
"Generally speaking, the fishery production is not quite well in the first half of the year and the high yield basically occurs in the second half of the year," said Cheng Guofang from Zhoushan ocean and fishery bureau.
