Nathaniel Bates, Chair of the Richmond-Zhoushan Friendship Commission, shared a personal story behind the establishment of the sister city relationship between the two cities. Zhoushan and Richmond became sister cities in 1993. Bates believes that young people should keep the friendship alive with new visions to make the sister city relationship great for the world.
