The ship repair sector in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, maintains solid momentum this year.
From January to November, Zhoushan Port completed repair work on 2,523 foreign-flagged vessels, up 14.3 percent year-on-year. Total output value reached 14 billion yuan ($2 billion), an increase of 13.3 percent.
At Pier No 4 of Daishan Changhong Ship Repair, workers were busy refitting the living quarters of a vessel to ensure it can resume operations next month. More than 20 international vessels are undergoing repairs or retrofitting at the company's docks and drydocks, with operations running at full capacity.
The company has repaired and upgraded more than 200 vessels so far this year, said Wu Haicun, production manager at Daishan Changhong. Annual output value of the company is expected to rise by an additional 400 million yuan, pushing total revenue beyond 2 billion yuan, the highest level in nearly five years.
Daishan Changhong reflects the broader strength of Zhoushan's ship repair cluster. Benefiting from deep-water port conditions, the city hosts numerous repair and shipbuilding enterprises, several of which rank among the world's top 10. The city's expanding service networks now reach clients across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and more than 20 countries and regions worldwide, reinforcing Zhoushan's important role in the global ship repair market.
