Zhoushan's GDP grows 6.6% in 2025

Zhoushan's economy recorded robust growth in 2025, with the city's GDP reaching 234.61 billion yuan ($33.8 billion), up 6.6 percent from the previous year — 1.1 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The primary sector's added value contributed 22.35 billion yuan, growing by 3.8 percent year-on-year, while the secondary sector contributed 98.77 billion yuan, up 6.5 percent. The tertiary sector's added value led overall growth, reaching 113.49 billion yuan and expanding by 7.2 percent, contributing 47.4 percent to GDP growth.

The industrial sector also continued to grow steadily, with added value from industrial enterprises above designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan — increasing by 8.5 percent. Shipbuilding, electricity production, and petrochemical industries were major contributors, with notable increases of 32.5 percent, 14.2 percent, and 2.4 percent, respectively.

Port development in Zhoushan saw significant advancements. The city's port handled a record 704 million metric tons of cargo, while container throughput reached about 4.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units, growing by 30.6 percent compared to the previous year.

In terms of investment, Zhoushan's fixed asset investment grew by 0.6 percent year-on-year, surpassing the provincial average by 9.7 percentage points.

Consumer markets also expanded, with total retail sales of consumer goods reaching 60.36 billion yuan, up 4.4 percent year-on-year.

In 2025, the city's per capita disposable income reached 74,528 yuan, a 4.7 percent year-on-year increase. The income gap between urban and rural residents continued to narrow, with urban residents earning an average of 82,911 yuan and rural residents 54,902 yuan.
