Zhoushan sees Spring Festival tourism surge

Zhoushan's tourism market boomed during the Spring Festival holiday, with the number of visitors across the city reaching 1.59 million, a 36.9 percent increase compared to last year.

Spring Festival prayer and blessing tours were among the key attractions. Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian Island saw a combined 964,000 visits, with Putuo Mountain receiving 725,000 visits, up 11.1 percent, and Zhujiajian receiving 239,000 visits, up 39.1 percent.

Dinghai Ancient City was also a major draw, receiving over 183,000 visits through activities such as lion dances and traditional opera performances.

Tourists favored increasingly longer stays, with overnight visitors accounting for 65 percent of the total visitors, 10 percentage points higher than last year, with 1.09 million visits, up 39 percent.

Zhoushan also hosted 3,450 tourist groups, up 32.8 percent, comprising 37,000 group members, up 31.5 percent. The city's hotels and boutique accommodations recorded an average occupancy rate of 53.6 percent, up 7.1 percentage points.
