Dinghai Ancient City in Zhoushan's Dinghai district, East China's Zhejiang province, is set to celebrate Lantern Festival on March 3 with Zhanqi Fish Lanterns, a stunning Anhui provincial intangible cultural heritage, making their debut in the ancient city.
The Fish Lantern Parade will take place in three sessions: 6:00 pm to 6:40 pm, 7:20 pm to 8:00 pm, and 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The lanterns, made from high-quality bamboo as the framework and rice paper as the surface, are decorated with hand-painted designs and pasted to form a lively carp shape. The lanterns, which symbolize prosperity, safety, and good fortune for the year ahead, will move through the streets to the rhythm of drums.
Other activities include fish lantern dance performances, a lantern riddle activity, and a Lantern Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Party, promising a blend of traditional culture and festive joy.
