Li Ying, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a professor at Dalian Maritime University's Navigation College, shared her research experience of Shulanghu Terminal in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, during the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Since opening on Jan 26, 2016, the Shulanghu Terminal, part of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, has handled more than 430 large vessels (each over 400,000 metric tons) and a cumulative iron ore throughput of approximately 600 million tons. It is now the country's largest offshore iron ore transshipment base and the world's first terminal capable of unloading iron ore from two large vessels simultaneously.
Shulanghu Terminal has also set numerous records and begun transitioning to intelligent operations, significantly improving unloading efficiency.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Shulanghu Terminal's opening, and its presentation at the national two sessions marks a major milestone.
In February, the terminal reached a throughput of nearly 7 million tons, a 41.1 percent increase year-on-year, with iron ore unloading and shipping also showing significant growth.
