Zhejiang Retronx Foodstuff Industry, based in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has partnered with a major domestic airline to supply curry tuna rice, tuna pasta, and other meal options for its flights. This collaboration marks Retronx's second major foray into the airline food market, following the success of their tuna cans served on international flights last year.
Inside Retronx's factory, production lines are running at full capacity, with key workshops, including those for fish fillets, canned goods, and ready-to-eat meals, rapidly processing raw materials into finished products.
The company is also constructing a new digitized factory, with an investment of approximately 250 million yuan ($36 million). This facility, covering 2 hectares, is expected to begin trial production later this year, significantly increasing production capacity. Meanwhile, existing facilities are being upgraded to accommodate the company's new research and development center.
To meet the tastes of domestic airline passengers, Retronx's curry tuna rice dish is specifically designed to suit local preferences. The company has already received approval from the airline and expects to receive up to 20,000 orders per day for this single product.
The company is also focusing on packaging upgrades, introducing smaller, more eco-friendly tuna can sizes. Once the new factory is operational, Retronx will invest an additional 40 to 50 million yuan to introduce Tetra Pak production lines for aseptic carton packaging of food products. This will further enhance product quality and hygiene standards.
