Zhoushan fishermen's songs — a national intangible cultural heritage from East China's Zhejiang province — were performed in Moscow, Russia, from Feb 26 to March 2.

During the performance, Luo Shimin, a county-level representative inheritor from Daishan county, delivered a powerful rendition of the fishermen's songs. The rhythmic, energetic performance transported the audience to the majestic scenes of Zhoushan fishermen working at sea.

This marks the first time Daishan's national-level intangible cultural heritage project has been showcased in Russia, providing an important platform for China's maritime culture.

The fishermen's songs, an iconic piece of Zhoushan's maritime folklore, are a living testament to China's rich folk music traditions. It reflects the collective voices of generations of fishermen and boatmen. In 2008, the Zhoushan fishermen's songs were inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list, underscoring its importance as both a cultural relic and a treasured piece of Chinese folk music.
