Updated : 2026-04-29 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province will launch 83 cultural, tourism, and sports activities during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, with consumption vouchers totaling about 2.04 million yuan ($297,700).

The initiatives coincide with the May Day holiday and students' spring break. Multiple scenic areas will offer free admission for students aged 16 and under, including Putuo Mountain, Daqingshan National Forest Park, and Nansha and Dongsha beaches. Other destinations such as Shengsi Islands and Taohua Island have also joined the promotion.

Voucher programs will be launched across the region. The city's municipal department of culture, radio, television, and tourism plans to distribute 120,000 yuan in consumer vouchers tied to a provincial football league match, while Dinghai district and Daishan county will roll out additional subsidies to stimulate spending on retail, sports, and tourism. Meanwhile, Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian Island will issue over 60,000 vouchers worth more than 1.03 million yuan.

During the holiday, large-scale events will include performances, music festivals, and themed markets. Dinghai Ancient City will host magic and acrobatics shows, while Shenjiamen subdistrict will stage open-air concerts.

Sports events will also feature prominently, including a regional football league match between Zhoushan and Ningbo at Zhoushan Sports Stadium. Commercial complexes and resorts will organize lifestyle festivals, art markets, and interactive experiences.
