The Zhoushan qualifying tournament for the 2026 Zhejiang City Basketball League, known as ZheBA, will begin on June 27, bringing together amateur players from across the city in a month-long competition for a place in the provincial championship.

The latest edition of ZheBA has expanded significantly from previous years, with the number of teams in the provincial finals increasing from 22 to 28, making it one of the province's largest grassroots sporting events.

Professional league players and top-level university basketball athletes are not permitted to participate, ensuring the tournament remains focused on grassroots competition.

Four teams from Zhoushan — Dinghai, Putuo, Daishan, and Shengsi — will compete in the local qualifier, featuring a total of 85 amateur players.

The first stage will follow a home-and-away round-robin format, with the four teams playing six matches to determine the standings. The top two teams will then advance to the final to compete for the championship. The winning team will represent the city at the provincial tournament.

To enhance the event's appeal, the city will also set up specialty markets outside the venues, showcasing local agricultural products and intangible cultural heritage items while encouraging sports-related spending.

The opening game will be held at Putuo Gymnasium on the evening of June 27, with Putuo facing Daishan in the tournament's first matchup.
