Seventeen-year-old Ningbo sprinter Chen Yujie claimed the women's 100-meter title at the 2026 Chinese Athletics Championships in Quzhou on Aug 13, clocking 11.08 seconds to set a new Asian U20 record.

Chen surged into the lead early in the final and ultimately crossed the finish line first, following an 11.25-second performance in the semifinals.

Held at the Quzhou Sports Center, this year's championships feature 44 events across 10 competition sessions, attracting more than 1,000 top athletes from over 30 teams. The prestigious meet is being held in Quzhou for the fourth consecutive year.

The championships also serve as an important competition for athletes preparing for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which will open on Sept 19. Chen has recently been training with the national team and is focusing on recovering from fatigue and returning to peak form.

"I hope to be in peak form and achieve my best-ever result at the Nagoya Asian Games," Chen said.
