Ningbo airport sees 1.3-fold growth in foreign trade in H1
Ningbo airport has recorded robust growth in foreign trade during the first half of 2026, further strengthening its role as an international logistics hub.
According to customs data, Ningbo airport's imports and exports reached 19.76 billion yuan ($2.93 billion) in the first six months, up 130 percent year-on-year. Exports totaled 12.62 billion yuan, soaring 330 percent, with mechanical and electrical products serving as the main driver. Imports of mechanical and electrical products and agricultural goods reached 3.48 billion yuan and 670 million yuan, rising 72 percent and 310 percent, respectively.
The airport's expanding international cargo network has helped drive this growth. It now operates 10 inbound and outbound cargo routes connecting Ningbo with major cities including Liege, New York, and Dhaka, providing logistics links across Europe, North America, and Asia.
Ningbo airport has also developed air-to-air transfers and air-land intermodal transport, linking with 19 major airports across China. Its air-land intermodal transport network enables cargo to be quickly transported to destinations around the nation under integrated customs supervision, cutting logistics costs by 10 to 15 percent.
In the first half of 2026, inbound and outbound transit general cargo handled by the airport reached 3,967.6 metric tons and 825.4 tons, up 120 percent and 190 percent, respectively, highlighting the growing vitality of Ningbo's air cargo sector.
