Wuyi Experimental Primary School in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, organized a reading event on Sept 9 for An Adventure in Wuyi, a fairy tale by Russian author Yelena Kazakevich, written especially for Wuyi students.

This cross-cultural friendship began in December when Yelena and her daughter visited the school to deliver a fairy tale class. It was Yelena's first overseas engagement with young readers, and the children's curiosity and enthusiasm left a lasting impression.

Motivated by this genuine encounter, Yelena decided to create a special story for the Wuyi children, saying that their sincerity, cheerfulness, politeness, and love for literature are truly endearing.

After returning to Russia, she promptly began writing, weaving local scenery like Niutou Mountain into the magical settings of her story, with the characters reflecting the students' pure, beautiful traits.

The reading event was lively, with children excitedly recognizing familiar places in the tale. Zhu Xiadan, a teacher at the school, said this unique fairy tale, unlike ordinary books, let children experience literature's universality, inspiring them to observe life, imagine boldly, and act courageously.
