Zhejiang's three major airports handled about 95,000 inbound and outbound passengers on 555 flights from Oct 1 to 6, according to Hangzhou Customs.
Hangzhou airport recorded 503 flights and 88,900 passengers, while Wenzhou handled 40 flights and 5,226 passengers. Yiwu recorded 12 flights and 945 passengers.
To accommodate the National Day holiday travel rush, airports across the province added international routes and increased flight frequencies.
Hangzhou launched a round-trip service to Kathmandu, Nepal, on Oct 1 and resumed flights between Hangzhou and Vancouver, Canada, via Qingdao on Oct 2. Wenzhou also introduced new nighttime international flights ahead of the holiday.
Customs authorities introduced measures to speed up passenger clearance.
At Hangzhou International Airport, customs officers used integrated smart gates, AI-powered glasses, and a dual pre-screening system for carry-on and checked baggage to reduce waiting times for families.
Wenzhou Customs introduced integrated smart health screening gates with eight functions, including infrared temperature checks, identity verification, and carry-on baggage pre-screening. The system reduced average processing times by 20 percent.
