Delegates from Zhejiang province to the 19th CPC National Congress had a panel discussion open to the media on Oct 19 at which the delegation pledged to develop the province in accordance with the spirit of the congress.

More than 137 journalists from 122 domestic and overseas media agencies took part in the open discussion, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, the Washington Post and Japan's Yomiuri Shinbun.

Hosted by Che Jun, Party secretary of Zhejiang, the discussion first invited delegates to voice their views on President Xi Jinping's report at the opening ceremony in the context of their own work and life experience.

Next was a Q&A session in which delegates gave specific answers to media questions.

Che talked about how Xi's reform thoughts and practices have already influenced the development of Zhejiang. He said the members of the Zhejiang delegation feel a sense of familiarity with and acceptance of the congress report as some of its innovations were applied in Zhejiang when Xi worked in the province.

He shared with journalists a story about Xiajiang village in Chun'an county, which got a lot of attention from Xi. Xiajiang has turned to a rich and beautiful new village under Xi's instructions. Che said the village's change epitomizes the province's development. The achievements Zhejiang has made in reform and development over the past decade are the results of President Xi's correct guidance.
