Wuzhen, host of the upcoming fourth World Internet Conference (WIC), to be held in Wuzhen from Dec 3 to 5, has announced that the preparation work is almost complete.

The ancient water town has put a focus on improving infrastructure, conference services and publicity for this year's preparation work, according to Lu Yuan, vice director of the organizing committee of the fourth WIC.

With a theme of "Developing Digital Economy for Openness and Shared Benefits – Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace", this year's conference has 20 forums covering the five topics of digital economy, cutting-edge technologies, internet and society, cyberspace governance and exchanges and cooperation.

The Light of Internet Expo is expected to attract more than 400 renowned internet enterprises and startups to showcase their latest products and cutting-edge internet technology.

"In regard to improving infrastructure, Tongxiang currently has WiFi coverage in all public places," Lu said. "The permanent site of the conference has a four-feeder supply of electricity and the township has a two-feeder supply of gas and water with road reconstruction and facade reconstruction of major areas basically completed."

To improve conference services, the local government has reserved ample resources including dining, accommodation and transportation. In addition, Tongxiang has carried out food safety inspections and has ensured medical services during the conference.

Furthermore, a special team has been set up to conduct the round-the-clock inspection of facilities at the permanent conference venue to ensure their proper functioning.

To improve the publicity of the conference publicity, well-known enterprises including Alibaba, BMW and Mobike have agreed to cooperate to increase its brand value.

Tongxiang has also set up a working team to attract investment and talents to facilitate the realization of yet more new programs.

The organizing committee of fourth WIC in Tongxiang recently revealed that smart services will be one of the highlights of this year's conference.
