The successful businesswoman didn't confine herself to the business world. In 2000, Chen spent six years in making a 20-episode documentary about her Chinese compatriots who moved to Australia in the 1990s.

"I am one of them and we came to the land with dreams and also receipts for loans," said Chen, adding that the loans encouraged them to find jobs as soon as possible in this seemingly strange country.

However, the situation has changed, "Nowadays, Chinese people come to Australia with dreams and money." To record the changes, Chen made a sequel of her documentary.

Chen said that people can't take our money and fame with us after we die, so she always hopes to do something meaningful in society. In Australia, she is working to unite Zhejiang people and help Chinese people better adapt to foreign communities.

In November 2017, the Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Federation of Australia was founded with Chen elected to be the chairwoman.

The "Shenzhen speed" was a hot topic at the beginning of China's reform and opening-up, and nowadays, the "Zhejiang speed" is also impressive, according to Chen.

"China is changing so fast and we, overseas Chinese, though living abroad, feel very proud of it as well," Chen said.
