"Without your treatment and care, I wouldn't have recovered so soon," said a recently recovered patient to medical staff at the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University on Feb 18, upon being discharged from the hospital.

The novel coronavirus medical team at the hospital was recently awarded by the provincial government of Zhejiang.

Wenzhou is the hardest-hit city in Zhejiang due to its large number of migrant workers.

As the city's only provincial-level designated hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University established special task forces and arranged for medical experts to join in the epidemic control efforts immediately after the outbreak of the virus.

It also coordinated with hospitals in counties and districts with high infection risks to improve the detection and treatment of critically ill patients, and gave medical guidance to the hospitals via tele-consultation.

When treating critically ill patients, the hospital arranged for an expert for each patient, with two consultations and two expert discussions a day.

As of Feb 20, 20 patients had recovered and been discharged, including 15 critically ill patients, and 76.5 percent of all critically ill patients at the hospital have been downgraded to mild cases.

In addition to disease treatment, the hospital has also been carrying out clinical research on the epidemic.

It also sent eight medics to Wuhan to help the city fight against the disease.
